Fuel Subsidy Removal: Nigerian Petroleum Company, NNPCL Confirms Adjusted Fuel Pump Prices Of Over N500 Per Litre At Its Filling Stations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced the adjustment of its petrol pump prices at retail outlets nationwide to align with the removal of fuel subsidy. The statement, issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Garba Deen Muhammad, emphasizes that the prices will fluctuate in response to market dynamics. NNPC assures customers of its commitment to ensuring a continuous supply of products and expresses regret for any inconvenience caused.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of fuel subsidy removal during his inaugural speech, NNPC released a list of adjusted pump prices for its mega stations across all states, including the Federal Capital Territory. The new prices range from N488 per litre in Lagos State to N557 per litre in Yobe and Borno states, with a price of N537 per litre in Abuja.

The management of NNPC has instructed all mega stations to implement the new prices immediately. However, reports from Port Harcourt and Yenagua indicate that motorists are reluctant to purchase fuel at the new price, citing affordability concerns.

The announcement of fuel subsidy removal by President Tinubu has triggered protests nationwide, with immediate sharp increases in fuel prices following the announcement.
